The parrotlet is a big personality in the parrot body. They are small creature with a small size measuring around five to six inches. Parrotlets will weigh on averagely 28 grams when they are hatched. They are domestic birds kept by a lot of people. Humans have seen the importance of rearing parrotlets in their homes. Many people like them because of their friendly nature and also the fact that one can train the parrot on various issues. Parrots are very sensitive birds that notice everything going on in the compound. However people ask themselves so many questions about this bird and more often have some misconceptions about them.
A compound with a parrot looks extra beautiful. The colors of a parrot are different depending on the species. In the world there are more than one species of the parrotlets and therefore have different colors. Just like in all the other birds some species are expensive to rear and rare to find. The most available colors are blue color are what most people call pacific. Other colors include the Green rump, the yellow face and the blue wing. It is very hard to find the species that are yellow in color in many parts of the world.
Appetite for food helps the birds in maintaining their antique and playful nature. Since parrots are nutcrackers they love nuts which helps them exercise their beaks and make them strong. They crack the nuts and feed what’s on the inside. They should be fed with a constant supply of natural supplements to aid them with their proper growth. Mature parrots feed less as they require little amount of energy as compared to the young parrotlets which require quite some energy for growth. An food that has very high amount of sugar content should not be given to the parrots. Parrotlets should be fed with food that contains less amount of sugar content.
Every pet bird needs the attention of their owner. Parrotlets require very less attention by their owners as they are capable of playing by themselves. Fully grown parrots require around ten minutes attention from the owner for training. Parrotlets will feel comfortable in a cage with toys and other playful material provided there is enough space for play. These birds do well by themselves, and so they don’t need company. They can only feel comfortable in the company of their owners and other parrots. Their houses should be made separate to that of other pets.
Although they are friendly birds they can cause harm to anything that causes disturbance to them. They should be separated from the other pets to avoid fights that can occur.
